The Studio at Blue Heron House

Art Word Making . . . in a peaceful environment . . .

The StudioIn February of 2004, I was musing dreamily in my journal and wrote, "What if I built a studio on my property . . . ?" 10 days later, my entry began, "I'm beginning the wheel-churning for a studio on my property . . . " until by early March 2004, I had appointments with an architect, a contractor, two banks and the Larimer County Planning Department. I was on my way!

In June of 2004, I moved out of my office at 19 Old Town Square, put the large circular writing table in storage, along with the energy many of you have contributed to it, and broke ground for the construction of a studio on my land just outside of Old Town. This, like many things in my life, began as a rambling wish in the pages of my journal. But unlike some of my journal musings (about solitude or a clean garage!), it took only two months from beginning scribbles to blueprints! And The Studio at Blue Heron House was born.

My students and clients have been meeting in this beautiful environment for just over two years at this writing. It serves as a place to write, quilt, knit, read, collage. It also serves as a soothing place for reflective writing workshops with many of you who are reading this.

Open Studio is every Wednesday, 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m.. All are welcome to join me for two hours of silence together. You can bring a book, photo album, journal, your tired body, whatever you can to do in quiet in the studio space. Walk the labyrinth before, during or after this quiet time and experience the richness labyrinth walking can bring to your busy mind.
